Mastihatini – I’ll bring over a couple of glasses

Want a great cocktail with a Greek twist? This is it and I owe its invention to a good friend, Ilya Malahias, with whom I’ve sipped many a quaff while watching the sun slip into the sea on Ikaria.

  • 1 ½ shots Mastiha liqueur
  • 2 tablespoons Vyssino syrup
  • 1 cup crushed Ice
  • Seltzer
  • Lemon or orange slices for garnish

  1. Place the liqueur, syrup and crushed ice in a shaker and shake vigorously. Strain into a flute or other glass and add enough seltzer to come up to just below the lip of the glass. Garnish with Vyssino or orange or lemon slices and/or fresh mint.
